Through Select, we (Mary Ann and David McMahon) have brought our dream to life and want to share it with you. This collection is a culmination of 20 years of acquiring and curating the hand picked pieces sold in our store. Each item has a history, with personal meaning, and range from elegant and simple to cheeky and flamboyant. Our goal is to share our passion and expertise with you, our clients. We want you to leave the store with a smile, feeling the same pleasure in the items chosen, as we felt when we found them. We hope to bring the eclectic effect to your home and/or office you have been searching for through our marriage of unique elements and styles, which encompass a diverse blend of cultural influences and architecture that span several decades.
About the Founder
David McMahon began his journey after graduating with a degree in Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, RISD, in 1975. Since then, he has gained years of experience in Interior Design and Decorating, as well as Civil Engineering. He moved to New York City in 1978 to train under lead architect Jack B. Coble. Together they worked with clients including Katherine Hepburn, Cole Porter and Stephen Sondheim. David went on to work in the world renowned interior design and decorating firm, Parish-Hadley, gaining 16 years of experience, he ascended to the role of Director of Design and V.P. Projects. In this role David designed and curated various rooms for several of his famous clients including: the Rockefeller, Whitney and Astor families, the Prince and Princess of York (until the Queen of England thought otherwise). Other clients included Carly Simon, Mike Nichols and Diane Sawyer, and former Vice President Al Gore, to name a few. He also contributed to the design of a line of furniture for Baker. To date he has completed well over a hundred projects, in more than a dozen states and foreign countries. David opened his own architectural office in 1997 and continues his practice today. He is excited use his 25+ years of experience to bring your vision to life.
